AMDL CIRCLE is founded on over forty years of profession, research and continuous updating on the meaning of architecture and the contribution it can make to contemporary life and humanity.
It is a long journey that began in the seventies in Florence, when the founder Michele De Lucchi graduated in architecture and became a prominent figure of the radical and provocative adventure of the Cavart group. After settling in Milan, he joined the Memphis Group, which shakes the rationalist rigor with objects with eccentric shapes and bright colors. Meanwhile, De Lucchi is active on multiple fronts and with AMDL wins competitions for the remaking of the banking offices of Deutsche Bank (1990) and the redevelopment of railway stations of Deutsche Bundesbahn (1995).
Since then our professional work has been evolving. Together we have created numerous architectures of various types for public and private customers around the world: commercial and cultural spaces, residences, accommodation facilities, infrastructure, work environments, design and graphic design. AMDL Cirle and Michele De Lucchi are constantly committed to promoting culture and designing attractive spaces and aggregation, such as the operation carried out in Georgia to build an international face of the country in respect of its historical identity: The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Peace Bridge in Tbilisi are the first iconic projects in this direction.
The professional activity has always been accompanied by research on the themes of design, technology and craftsmanship. In 1990 Produzione Privata was founded to create experimental design objects, created thanks to the knowledge of master craftsmen and far from the logic of the market and industry. Since 2004, Michele De Lucchi has been sculpting conceptual models in wood to find the essentiality of architectural form and provide a constant source of inspiration for CIRCLE projects. Since 2018, CIRCLE’s research focuses on the Earth Stations project, a new type of building that uses humanistic and technological knowledge to foster positive and productive interconnection between humans. The philosophy behind the Earth Stations, presented in the most important conferences of architecture and in numerous international exhibitions including the Venice Biennale 2021, currently leads the entire design activity of CIRCLE.
